It’s Friday once again…another ‘stay-at-home’ week is in the books. Who is else is looking around wanting to make some updates in their home stat? Don’t get me wrong – I love my house and all of its little nooks and crannies, but all of this time inside has made me crave some change. And there is nothing like a couple of coats of fresh paint and new color to rejuvenate a room and give it a totally new lease on life.

Have you heard of Clare? It’s not just my niece’s middle name. It’s a two-year-old paint brand that’s disrupting the paint industry, and may be just what you need to check off that quarantine to-do list.
Founded by interior designer and media personality Nicole Gibbons, Clare is a direct-to-consumer online paint company, selling interior paint and all the supplies you’ll need to transform your space with color. The site is tailored to the DIY consumer, and even features a quick color quiz to help you select the perfect hue (of course, I am available for virtual consultations if you need more assistance!).
And let’s talk about the colors! I love that this is a highly curated palette – just 56 beautiful choices, including a nice variety of nuanced neutrals, all the blues and greens my little heart could desire, and a few moody hues that make me want to wrap myself up inside of them…
…Including one literally called ‘Current Mood,’ which is one of my favorites.
Near-blacks are still trending for both interior and exterior color, and Blackish is a gorgeous example.
Warmer neutrals and off-whites are also ‘On Point,’ hence the name. 🙂
I also wanted to point out Nicole’s impeccable styling of these images. You just can’t find this on the paint websites of the ‘big guys’ – and don’t be fooled, those digital rendering tools are never accurate! These real-life photos put the paint colors into context, and give you a much better sense of how a color will look in your room.
Even so, because of variable lighting conditions, and your existing materials, furnishings, etc. – trying before committing is always a smart idea if you’re going it on your own. Clare offers peel-and-stick samples, so you can try them out on different walls in your room with no damage to your walls and zero painting involved. (Pro tip: Just remember that the existing color on your walls can really affect the way your eyes perceive that color sample).
Once you’ve nailed down your color choice(s), you can add to your cart primer brushes, rollers, painter’s tape, trays, drop cloths, and more – everything you need to actually get the job done. No trips to the store required, and, depending on where you live in the continental US, you’ll have your order in 1-5 days. Order this weekend and you’ll be painting by next. And orders over $100 ship for free – just two gallons of paint will do the trick!
Pretty colors aside, Clare is an impressive, premium paint product – Greenguard certified with zero VOC, ‘ultra-low’ odor, and is washable and scrubbable. That word is beautiful music to my ears!
I am so impressed by Clare, and so thrilled to support a black- / woman-owned business, that I will be specifying Clare paint colors on all of our Delivered by Design projects going forward. I’m excited to recommend this quality product to clients, and delighted to make it even easier for them to execute the rooms we design for them!
