Friday Family-Friendly Find: LL Bean Waterhog Mats

[And sometimes a Friday Family-Friendly Find falls on a Saturday! It’s just one of those unexplained phenomena of the universe…yep, that’s it ;).] There are some home furnishing and decor items I honestly struggle with, for one reason or another. Most often, the problem is with functionality and/or durability. One such category is bathroom accessories.…

Friday Family-Friendly Find: Pendleton Eco-Wise Washable Wool Plaid Throw

Ooh, I have mixed feelings about this one! The calendar says we should be preparing for fall weather. The heart wants summer to stick around awhile longer. Nevertheless, Labor Day weekend is upon us – and therefore, I feel it is only right to try to wrap my head around the changing of the season and the unofficial beginning of autumn (otherwise known as summer’s end). This week’s Friday Family-Friendly Find might just help heal the pain…

Friday Family-Friendly Find: Pottery Barn Kids Preston Desk & Storage Wall System

For this week’s Friday Family-Friendly Find, I wanted to feature something to make homeschooling and remote learning easier, more comfortable, and better organized. It’s so interesting to me how the concept of a homework space has shifted over the past five months. Before, the trend was really toward more of a communal area downstairs, near the kitchen, and now, everyone (grown-ups and kids alike) seems to need their own dedicated space apart from one another to focus and participate in Zoom classes/meetings without disrupting or distracting everyone else.

Friday Family-Friendly Find: William Morris & Co Strawberry Thief Tray

Maybe I’m extra sensitive to trends in home decor, but it sure seems like the marketplace is exploding with William Morris licensed products. Last spring at High Point Market, Selamat, a furniture and accents manufacturer specializing in bohemian, rattan, and outdoor furnishings, debuted a huge (and pretty amazing) collection with William Morris, and since then I’m seeing it everywhere. Including this week’s Friday Family-Friendly Find!

I discovered the William Morris & Co Strawberry Thief Tray while on the hunt for a nice melamine tray on which to serve up s’mores fixings on our nights by the firepit on our patio. Strawberry Thief is an iconic Morris pattern; I’ve used it for draperies in a client project and they were stunning! Anyway, I had been using an old plastic Christmas cookie platter; it was time for an upgrade :). It’s been so hot in the Boston area, and yesterday was our first sub-90-degree evening in awhile, so we took it for a test drive!

When it comes to decorating kids spaces – be they bedrooms, playrooms, or cozy reading nooks under the stairs, we typically like them to be fun, colorful, durable, and not budget-busting. So I’m always on the lookout for furnishings and accessories that fit this criteria. And Surya’s Trenza Pillows and Poufs check all of those boxes…

Friday Family-Friendly Find: Bathage Waterproof Fabric Shower Curtain

In eight years of blogging, I believe this is the first time I have addressed shower curtains! If you have a shower curtain (or two or three) in your home, what are the first words that come to mind when you think about it? Annoying? Awkward? Gross? Wasteful, with the frequent liner changes needed to keep things clean?

I was excited to happen upon a shower curtain that solves for these pain points, and looks great doing it!

Friday Family-Friendly Find: Taylor Burke Home Lauren Chaise

What is better than lounging in a cozy, inviting corner chaise longue with a good book (or podcast, or Instagram feed) and your favorite beverage? Nothing, ever. Well, maybe napping – though I’m personally not a napper (I always feel more tired when I wake up!). When I am designing living spaces for clients I am usually angling to see if I can fit one into the furniture layout. It isn’t always easy, but when there is adequate space in just the right place, it is magic!

The only problem is…I often have a really hard time finding a chaise with the ‘just right’ specs – style, size, one-arm (generally looks best in a corner) and, most importantly, quality construction.

But I’m all about finding unicorns, and today I’m sharing one with you.
