Just as we are entering the home stretch for our second home in the Berkshires, and ‘pretty things’ are starting to take shape, I thought I would share an update on what’s happening. There is a big push to get to the finish line by mid-November, which would have us potentially celebrating Thanksgiving there…which is a nice goal to think about. It’s a goal that also gives me massive heartburn, and a wee bit of PTSD thinking back to our home renovation a few years ago that had a hard Christmas deadline…which of course I swore I’d never do again…ha).Read More
Maybe I’m extra sensitive to trends in home decor, but it sure seems like the marketplace is exploding with William Morris licensed products. Last spring at High Point Market, Selamat, a furniture and accents manufacturer specializing in bohemian, rattan, and outdoor furnishings, debuted a huge (and pretty amazing) collection with William Morris, and since then I’m seeing it everywhere. Including this week’s Friday Family-Friendly Find!
I discovered the William Morris & Co Strawberry Thief Tray while on the hunt for a nice melamine tray on which to serve up s’mores fixings on our nights by the firepit on our patio. Strawberry Thief is an iconic Morris pattern; I’ve used it for draperies in a client project and they were stunning! Anyway, I had been using an old plastic Christmas cookie platter; it was time for an upgrade :). It’s been so hot in the Boston area, and yesterday was our first sub-90-degree evening in awhile, so we took it for a test drive!Read More

So I checked, and apparently the last gift guide I did was in 2012. [If you must…here it is…don’t judge…it was 8 years ago!]. Perhaps that helps explain my need to overachieve at this moment. For today I present to you not one, but three Father’s Day gift guides – each wrapped around a theme…Read More
On Halloween night, you may think about ghosts, goblins, candy, witches and pumpkins, but I’ve got my mind on lanterns, knockers, high-gloss paint and coir mats. I really enjoy getting up close and personal with my neighbor’s homes while trick-or-treating with my boys – particularly, their front porches. It’s like the super bowl of curb…Read More
As we approach ‘locked and loaded’ status for interior selections and orders for our home renovation, I am now turning my focus elsewhere – outside the house, to be specific. Even though I know and employ daily the elements and principles of design, when it comes to exterior design, my mind just shuts down. I…Read More
For the first time ever, my husband and I have purchased outdoor furniture. We are new to having usable outdoor dining space, and are really looking forward to entertaining friends and family “al fresco.” For now, we have a deck – though in the future we will dine on a stone patio of some sort (more…Read More
