The world of shelter magazines and publishing is…well…interesting. Getting published is super exciting, but I’m honestly not a very patient person, and sometimes I’d rather be able to celebrate a great project than to be continually frustrated by how long it can take to get (and re-re-get) traction with the publications. One Room Challenge Week 1: Dance, Kung Fu & Movement Studio

Here we go again! For the seventh time, I am throwing my hat into the ring for the One Room Challenge.

If you’ve known and have seen the rooms I’ve transformed, as well as followed along with my home renovation a few years back, you’re probably wondering how I could possibly have more rooms that need help. Well let me tell you, I have more than a few! Including every single bathroom in my house. Projects for many more years to come…

If you had asked me six months ago what the next project would be here it would have been our main bedroom suite, including the bathroom and closet. Followed by several other spaces (bathrooms!). Somewhere in the bottom two on a lengthy list would have been dealing with the shell of a home theater, left for dead after the previous homeowner took all of the state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and custom furniture with them when we bought the house back in 2013.

(Past) Project Reveal: A Colorful Kit House Renovation

I have taken a couple of prolonged ‘pauses’ in blogging, during which we completed and photographed some pretty great projects. This is one of them. At first, my thought was – the ship has sailed, the pictures have been shared on Instagram and on my website, even published, so why dig up old news? Then I thought…I never really took the opportunity to share the whole story of this renovation project for a great family – it is good to do for posterity’s sake if nothing else. And, it’s actually a pretty neat story. Especially if you are into the architectural history, or a lover of color, or both.

So, without further ado, I present the reveal of a past project…which was beautifully photographed by Michael Lee well over a year ago.
